Review of Evan Dando live at Big Easy Concert House - Boise, ID
12th July 2005
by Ricardo Baca from Idaho Statesman
I bought a ticket
to Evan Dando (July 12, Big Easy Bourbon Street stage) because I thought it
would be neat to see the former Lemonheads frontman perform solo in an intimate
setting. I'm just glad I arrived early to hear the opening band (Exit 51 frontman
Johnny Liszak and his friend, singer-songwriter Matt Hopper). They alone were
worth going to this show. Evan Dando, on the other hand, came off as a pretentious
a--hole. Sure, he writes some great songs, but it really felt like open mike
night, and it wasn't that great. I didn't get it. I had a better (time the
prior) Saturday night watching John Hansen play at Pengilly's. He is a great
musician who is graceful as well.
